In the second innings, Dan Elgar and Eden Markram started the innings for the visitors. Elgar fell victim to Yasir Shah after scoring 29, after which Markram and Van der Dawson continued to bat cautiously. Babar Azam gave new life to Yasir Shah’s bowling by dropping Markram’s catch for 27 runs. Van der Dawson and Aiden Markram put on a 127-run partnership, during which they both completed their half-centuries. In the next over, Makram became the victim of Noman Ali by playing an innings of 74 runs.

Earlier on the third day, Pakistan started their 1st inning with 308 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Hassan Ali was dismissed after scoring 24 runs. For South Africa, Kagisu Rabada and Keshu Maharaj took 3.3 wickets while Lingi Nagidi and Enrich Norje took 2.2 wickets each.

Azhar Ali and Fahim Ashraf scored half centuries while showing responsibility. Azhar Ali returned to the pavilion for 51 runs while Faheem Ashraf was dismissed for 64 runs. On the first day of the Karachi Test, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 220 runs. For Pakistan, Yasir Shah took 3 wickets while debutants Noman Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi took 2 wickets each.

National team leg spinner Yasir Shah has broken the 40-year-old record of former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee for the most number of wickets in 44 Test matches. Yasir Shah, 34, has taken 233 wickets at an average of 30.51 by the end of play on the third day of the Karachi Test, the second-highest number of wickets taken by any bowler after 44 Test matches. Waqar Younis is fourth with 227 wickets and Dale Steyn is fifth with 224 wickets.
